About the Knowledge and Information Strategy

We will be asking tenants for their views on our draft Knowledge and Information Strategy from Friday 30th January. Your feedback will help shape the final version.

The strategy will then be discussed at the Homes Policy Development Group meeting on 17 March 2026, where a decision will be made about whether to recommend it for approval.

Why this matters:

The Housing Ombudsman Service has highlighted how important it is for landlords to keep clear, accurate and up-to-date records. When records are poor, it can lead to problems for tenants, such as delays, misunderstandings, or issues not being dealt with properly.

The Ombudsman published a report on this in May 2023, with an update in January 2025, calling on housing providers to manage information in a more consistent and organised way.

How this helps tenants:

To provide a good service, we need to understand:

  • who lives in our homes

  • what support or challenges they may have

Using information properly helps us:

  • build better relationships with tenants

  • respond more quickly and effectively

  • tailor services to individual needs

What the strategy does:

The strategy sets out our long-term plans for improving how we collect, store and use information. Doing this well helps us to:

  • deliver a high-quality housing service

  • meet legal and regulatory requirements

  • reassure residents that their personal information is handled safely and responsibly

Your feedback

We have shared the draft strategy and the Equalities Impact Assessment for information. We welcome any comments or feedback via the link below or call 01884 255 255 and ask for Tenant Involvement.
