Mid Devon is home to more than 50 parks and play areas.

Parks and play areas are an invaluable community resource, serving as vibrant hubs of recreation, relaxation, and social interaction. They offer a sanctuary, providing green spaces for people of all ages to connect with nature, engage in physical activities, and promote overall wellbeing.

Our paddling pools are a treasured resource for many throughout the summer season, offering pleasant respite during the warm weather.

Parks & Play Area Improvements (2019-23)Parks & Play Area Improvements (2019-23)
Since 2019, we have spent more than £700,000 on our parks and play areas within the district. The investments have been utilised to enhance existing facilities, introduce new play equipment, improve safety features, and carry out necessary repairs and refurbishments.

We endeavour to, where possible, provide play equipment that is stimulating, accessible and inclusive. Park improvements in recent years have seen a number of accessible features which include basket swings, multi-play units, paved access, and wheelchair roundabouts.

The Council plans to continue working closely with local communities to identify key areas for improvement and implement innovative designs, creating accessible and inclusive play spaces that nurture the growth and development of every child.

Find where your nearest park or play area is in Mid Devon on the Councils website: www.middevon.gov.uk/residents/parks-and-play-areas/.

Each year the Council gets involved in the national Love Parks Week campaign which celebrates parks, green spaces, and the dedicated volunteers and workers that look after them. This year, Love Parks week runs from 28 July to 6 August. Find out more information on the Keep Britain Tidy website.
