Conservation Area and Management Plan
The Council is consulting on a review to the existing conservation area and the adoption of the appraisal and management plan. The draft plan has been prepared to inform future change, development and design in and around the Bow Conservation Area, so that its sensitivities and unique character can be preserved and enhanced.
Reviewing the existing boundary to the Bow Conservation Area
Identifying the character and important features of the area and its setting
Identifying key views and open spaces within the area
Offering guidance on common concerns
Proposing opportunities for enhancement for the area
Recognising designated and non-designated heritage assets within the Conservation Area
A public consultation will run from Wednesday 1July to Wednesday 26 August 2026 for a period of eight weeks. The Council is keen to hear your views about the document, the future management of the Conservation Area and to record your comments.
All comments received within the consultation period will be carefully considered to help us finalise the Conservation Area and Management Plan before it is adopted by the Council. Once adopted, the Conservation Area and Management Plan will be used in the process of determining planning applications and for implementing management proposals.
Any comments must be received by Wednesday, 26 August 2026.
Public Event
On 29 July 2026 a public event will be held within the Community Room at Bow Village Hall from 4pm to 7pm. Officers will be present to answer any questions you have about the document and the future management of the Conservation Area.
Comments can be sent in through a number of ways:
In person at the event on the 29th of July, 4-7pm held at Bow Village Hall, Community Room.

Printed copies of the consultation document will be available at our Council Offices in Tiverton (Phoenix House, Phoenix Lane EX16 6PP) or at libraries within Mid Devon during normal opening hours during the consultation period and at the Public Event.
